Looking for a PowerConnect 5448 OIDs - SNMP
I am testing a new monitoring system from GFI (GFI MAX). There is a way to use SNMP with Dell equipment. I am trying to find out what are the OIDs I should enter into the system to monitor things like CPU, Fans, System status etc. There is also a place for a response like = 3 (3 being OK, I think). How should I configure this? I called Dell Ent support, but was told they do not know the OIDs.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Firstly, you can try Cisco OIDs, probably Dell has the same.
If not, you can use two utilites from net-snmp linux package: snmpwalk to get all OIDs in textual form and snmptranslate to convert it to numeric form (if you have appropriate MIBs).

Third option is to use MIB browser, but many of them needs some payment.

Hi Anaraendil,
You sent me in the right direction. Here is what I did:
1. I searched Google for a free MIB Browser. I found ireasoning.com free MIB browser. That can be downloaded from here:

2. I downloaded the Dell PowerConnect 54xx MIB from here:
ftp://ftp.dell.com/network/PowerConnect54xx_MIBs_A00.zip
3. I then opened dell_vendor.mib using the browser, and found the OIDs I was looking for.
The OIDs I am using for my 5448 are:
Global Status: 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3000.1.2.110.1.0
FAN 1: 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3000.1.2.110.7.1.1.3.67109249
FAN 2: 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3000.1.2.110.7.1.1.3.67109250
FAN 3: 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3000.1.2.110.7.1.1.3.67109251
PSU 1: 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3000.1.2.110.7.2.1.3.67109185
PSU 2: (If exsit) 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3000.1.2.110.7.2.1.3.67109186
Be advised there is a "." at the beginning of every string/ line, but I found that my GFIMax monitoring system did not like that "." at the beginning, so for me it works without it.
Oh and the string returned should be 1 for the FANs and PSUs, and 3 for the global status. These are "OK" / "NORMAL" status. You can see that in the MIB browser.
