OID for Serial number for Powerconnect3000 Devices

Hi ,

I wanted to know in which SNMP OID is the Serial number of the device stored. Is this the same number used for  purposes of warranty and support ?

I am confused between 2 numbers

1) SerialNumber  : https://support.ipmonitor.com/mibs/DELL-VENDOR-MIB/item.aspx?id=productIdentificationSerialNumber
:     1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3000.1.2.100.8.1.2

2) ServiceTag   :    https://support.ipmonitor.com/mibs/DELL-VENDOR-MIB/item.aspx?id=productIdentificationServiceTag
:     1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10895.3000.1.2.100.8.1.4

Could you clarify to me the specific reason of both these number ?

Which of this one should be used from a warranty and support stand point ?

Thanking you in advance for the replies,

Ziax

Hi,

Service Tag is needed for warranty and support.

I can't tell you what is the purpose of Serial Number. Probably it's for Dell internal usage, parts replacement, interactions with other vendors or something like this.
