PowerConnect 2724

I just purchased 2 PowerConnect 2724 switches. I went in to change the IP address on the first one, but after changing it I could not access the switch using the new IP address. I must have mistyped the address. The second switch worked fine. Is there anything I can do to reset the PowerConnect 2724 to the factory default IP address? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hi,

Here is the info from the user documentation for the 27xx switches:

Switch Default Button:

The PowerConnect 2708/2716/2724 switches have a single Default push-button on the front panel for a manual reset. When activated, the Default push-button restores the configuration values to the device's factory default settings.

On pressing the switch Default button:

  • Factory default configuration (192.168.2.1) is set as the switch IP address.

  • Subnet mask changes to 255.255.255.0

  • Graphical User Interface (GUI) login user name changes to Admin, and the password is not configured (appears blank), with Read/Write privilege.

  • The DHCP client is set off.

  • The device is rebooted.

Cuong.

Thank you very much. That did the trick.
