PowerConnect 5324 firmware issues

Inherited a 5324 that doesn't have any error lights on it, only FAN and PWR are lit green. The switch passes traffic, but I cannot reset it to factory defaults nor can I log in via http. I can hyperterminal into it, and the first two lines of POST are fine. UART Channel Loopback Test PASS Testing the System SDRAM PASS after that, I see ascii art, I.E. I see gibberish characters. I've tried doing a ctrl d, I've tried ctrl f. I'd like to try to flash current firmware into it but without being able to get a valid cli and not knowing the IP address for web management, I don't know if that is possible. If not, I'd like to find out how much it would cost to get it fixed.

Serial port setting should be 9600, 8, none, 1, no flow control.

Try different baud rates if you still get gibberish.

If you connect only 1 workstation to it and ping all ip's in your subnet only 2 should answer: switch & self. Hope the password is simple or known
