Switch is dropping all data - HW drops
Hi I have an application which is sending data(FAST) to from pc to HW. It works fine. However when I have this Z9100-on switch between HW and pc, the switch is stopping the data. I have tried various settings with flow control and storm control but it doesn't help.
If I print the 'show hardware drops interface' of the interface, I cans see that Ingress Drops,Packets dropped by FP, and Port bitmap zero Drops increase by for example 1000 if I send 1000 packets.
Do you have any tips how to fix this problem ? Is this a HW buffering issue. What can I do to fix this ?
Drops in Interface Hu ...:
Ingress Drops : 468574 IBP CBP Full Drops : 0 PortSTPnotFwd Drops : 0 IPv4 L3 Discards : 0 Policy Discards : 1864 Packets dropped by FP : 131709 (L2+L3) Drops : 0 Port bitmap zero Drops : 468574 Rx VLAN Drops : 21 --- Ingress MAC counters--- Ingress FCSDrops : 0
thanks for your time.

Hi,
This problem is now solved for me.
The issue was that the data we are sending needed to have a valid source mac.
Thanks

Hi,
What OS version is the switch on? How is the port configured? Are there any ACLs that would block traffic?

interface definition
There is nothing configured that would block traffic.

Yes that is not the problem.
It would be good if there is some explanation for those drop counters.

I did share the solution.
When we were sending data directly to Device without switch, it was working...
Via switch, it was dropping all the data...
The reason was that MAC address in our data was illegal. So the solution was to make sure that source mac in data is a valid one...The problem is with your data...

hey @Mic77 , sorry to revive this old thread, but how did you discover that it was a bad MAC address? I am running into similar issues, but I cant find in any location where to dive deeper into the DELL switch on why the drops happen. Or did you use an external wireshark or likewise to see what was happening wrongly?
Kind Regards
