Unable to retrieve STP Port Table via SNMP on Dell N4032

On the system I'm working with, we have both Dell N4032 and Dell 2824 switches.

I'm using network management software to monitor these switches via SNMP.  One of the features of the software I'm using is it detects the beginning and endpoints for the switch interfaces.  It uses information from a few different common MIB tables, including the STP Port Table (dot1dstp, oid is 1.3.6.1.2.1.17.2.*). On the 2824 switch, I'm seeing all of the data in this table, but for the 4032 switch it returns an empty table when performing an SNMP walk.  I've tried adding in the specific tables and even the unique OIDs in the switches SNMP->View settings, but still no luck.

The N4032 uses a different MIB (some) and code base than the 2824, plus some older OIDs don't work well with the newer faster ports.  My guess is you need to load the N4000 MIB that is found in the zip file of the firmware. The latest firmware is version 6.3.1.8 and available on the Dell Support site at:

downloads.dell.com/.../N4000v6.3.1.8a23.zip

Open this zip to find the MIBs, which should meet your needs. As mentioned, some oids are limited to 32 bits and don't provide the accuracy for the faster ports like 10G you find in the N4000.  For instance, one example is using ifHighSpeed (instead of ifSpeed) to provide better accuracy for these faster ports.  I would start by suggesting loading all MIBs and search for multiple instances of dot1dstp as well as other stp tables to see if you can locate the right one.

Hope this helps
