VLAN Packets between 6248 layer 3 and 2848 layer 2
I'm trying to use a 6248 switch to route VLAN packets throughout my network. I'm currently in the testing phase, using what most of our network is made up of. We plan to us the 6248 in the middle as an aggregator and a VLAN Router
Problem occurs when I try to use a 2848 or a 2748 switch to pass VLAN packets back and forth to the 6248 switch. The 2848's trunk to the 6248 has an interface that accepts the 14 VLAN packets, and then untags them before it sends them out.
On the 6248's side of the trunk, it accepts 14 vlan packets and forwards them tagged. It also uses a PVID of 14 to mark all those incoming untagged packets from that specific switch as vlan 14. In the other switches we have, this configuration works fine.
The goal is to break our network into VLANs without having to configure every port with a PVID and "Untagged" membership. It has worked previously, but these 6248s don't seem to support what I want to do.
End question is, can I route VLAN packets from a 2848 switch to a 6248 and others with this configuration or is it going to cause problems?

So, not that anyone is reading this, but I figured out the interoperability problem between the 2848 and the 6248. The 6248 was running STP and the 2848 doesn't support it. If you simply disable STP on all the connected switches, your problems with interoperability will fade. Later on, I think we'll turn STP back on for the trunks.
