issue with VLAN and LAG between two switchs
Hi,
I spent a lot of hours to find a resolution but i have to admit that i won't find one alone. I have two switchs Dell PowerConnect 6248 and try to communicate between them in a VLAN.
I created one VLAN ID 3 on the two switchs. I tagged the interconnection port 41-48 (with LAG and LACP enabled) in trunk mode on VLAN3 on both. I declared a untagged port n° 10 and the first switch. There is a Wifi access point plugged on it. On the second, i tagged the port n°10 on VLAN3. A router is plugged on this port.
From the router, i can ping VLAN3 interface of the second switch. But not the first.
From the first switch, i can ping the access point but i can't ping the VLAN3 interface of the second switch. It seems the two switchs can't communicate on VLAN3 between them.
Can someone help me please ? Here is the two config :

Just to confirm, you have 8 interfaces connecting these two switches together? Does port channel 1 show to be up and forwarding?

The config itself looks fine. Have you tested communication across VLAN 1? Are you certain that the router is sending tagged VLAN 3 packets?

Hi, i think i found the problem :
Channel Ports Hash Algorithm Type
------- ----------------------------- -------------------
ch1 Active: 1/g43, 1/g44, 3
1/g45, 1/g46, 1/g47, 1/g48,
1/g42, 1/g41
Hash algorithm type is 3 and i suppose 802.11q is not forwarded in the lag. Which type you advise me please ? Can i change the algorithm in production ?

The default hashing mode is 3. Hashing mdoe3 should work just fine as long as the other switch is also on hashing mode 3. You can change the hashing mode using the command hashing-mode. I suggesting making this change off of peak hours, as some interupption could be seen.

Hi, so it's not the algorithm type "3" with blocks the VLAN packets... Yes there are 8 connected interfaces between these two switches. Do you have an idea where the problem comes from ?

I am not sure sure why traffic is not flowing between the two switches. Could you please post up the output from the following command.
# show interfaces status
# show spanning-tree
Could you test removing the port-channel and try using just one interface to connect the two switches?
Have you tried using General mode yet?
# switchport mode general
# switchport general allowed vlan add 3 tagged

Thanks for posting up that output. Port-channel 1 shows to be discarding.
