5520 Mobile Broadband Card - Firmware Upgrade Error
Help Please. Try to update my Dell 5520 Mobile Broadband Card with R169813 - It failed to install when first run, now I keep getting this error. "Unable to upgrade modem" then "Firmware Upgrade failed: Get Communications Port Error"

Hi,
Im in the same situation, did you ever get it right?? My system worked fine until i upgraded to IE8, now i cant get the application to work, it dosent find the device. But the device works according to devicemanager, add i can access it with hyperterminal. So i thougt a firmware upgrade might be a good idea but... Port error :-(
I use a Precision 4300, 5520 card and XP Sp3 wioth IE8.
Is it just me or does any body else feel like dell support tries to ignore the problems with this device??

I had the exact same problem, a dell article suggested I upgrade my Dell 5520, after I received a Sim Card not found message, I tried to upgrade, the program froze, and I`m also getting the same error messages.
This WWAN card blows, and yeah, Dell, is ignoring this problem.
