Broadcom 440x 10/100 causes long boot delay in XP

Hi there,

When I'm booting connected to a wired network, my Latitude D520 (XP SP3) with the above network adaptor takes around 40 seconds to display the taskbar and desktop icons after the desktop picture appears. This doesn't happen when the network lead is unplugged or when I'm connected to a wireless network. When unconnected or wireless, the taskbar and icons take 2-3 seconds to begin appearing. Any thoughts on what might be causing the delay when I'm hooked up to a wired network? Any ideas gratefully received! Broadcom driver is 4.60.0.0 21/11/2006.

Regards

It certainly sounds like it is narrowed down to the ethrenet device, likely hardware or software. Start with software. Consider disabling the device, restart computer, re-enable, test. Next, update the drivers to the latest, test. Next, uninstall the device, restart computer, re-install, add latest drivers the . Next, try a different ethrenet wire, and plug it into a different port on your router, if you have one, test.

Re-post your results, or ask if you need details of one of the steps.
