Can't connect Dell Dimension 4550 to Internet through Medialink Router

I installed a new Medialink MWN-WAPR150N router and I can connect two laptops and an iPad wirelessly but when I try to access the Internet through a Dell Dimension 4550 desktop which is directly connected to the router, I get the messsage "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage."  I have tried unplugging the cable modem and router, downloading network drivers, repairing the connection, ipconfig /release and /renew, etc. and nothing has worked.  The connection status shows as connected.  I can ping the router successfully, but I can't ping a web site.  Any ideas?

Maybe it's an Internet Explorer setting. IE has some unnecessarily high Security and Privacy settings. Try Chrome and see if it happens with that browser. You can have several browsers installed. Also change the port the computer is connected to on the router. Skip the #1 port.
