Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility missing
The Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility is missing from my Control Panel on a Windows 7. Likewise, the utility icon is missing from the taskbar. However, it's odd that two peer network icons(PeerNet), which are bundled with this utility software, appear in the taskbar.
According to msconfig, DW Wlan Tray Service and DW Wlan Card Wireless Network Tray Applet are enabled and running. Also, services.msc lists DW WLAN Tray Service(wltrysvc) as set on automatic. According to the task manager, WLTRAY.EXE is running.
So I reinstalled the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility and the utility icon appeared in the taskbar. After restarting my computer though it went missing again. And the Dell Wireless WLAN Card Utility was still missing from the Control Panel.
What seems to be the problem and how can I fix it?

Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID, if using XP, run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

adennlp,
Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system?

Yes, I did, and I also installed the drivers in the correct order.
The WLAN card utility wasn't in the Control Panel even before reinstalling the system.

adennlp,
Chipset drivers first or the rest of the drivers will fail to install.

I didn't imply that I hadn't installed the chipset drivers first. I did that.
Anyhow, here are two types of errors rendered in the Event Viewer that might be related to my problem. (I
m attaching two screenshots.)

I set WLAN Autoconfig(from services.msc) on Manual and then I restarted my computer. As a result, the card utility now appeared into my control panel.

Please - I have v.similar problem - Inspiron 15R model 5010-7927 -
Works ok in Safe mode if wired to to hub
DW-WLAN is missing - not in control panel.
Appallingly slow in normal mode - most windows will open eventually and after 2-3 minutes flag as not responding.
Will only occasionally wireless link. Reinstall is not currently an option - Win 7 was pre-installed so no disk - attempts to locate/use Dell DataSafe Local Backup
fail as it cannot be found... please advise, John

Hi - further to my problems above - I have now reinstalled the DW WLAN v.5.60.48.35
This has not solved the problem that in normal mode most windows take ridiculous
lengths of time to fully open and usually hang with "(not responding)".
The machine is reasonably OK in Safe mode.
It does not seem possible to reinstall Win 7 as Dell DataSafe cannot be located...
Profane word removed as per TOU> it - I paid Dell for pre-installation - to be expected to pay for it again is both an
insult and exceedingly close to theft...
