Dell laptop with Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN - cannot find setting to enable channels 12 & 13 in Europe

Help - I have a Dell Vostro with Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN which I bought from Dell in the UK three years ago ( warranty now expired )  and I cannot access the full range of Wireless channels 1-13 (only 1-11 which is USA standard) which means I cannot access my work wireless LAN because it is on channel 12

My laptop is running Windows 7 - does anyone know whether there is a way of configuring this or is it hard wired in the firmware or device driver ?There doesn't seem to be a different driver for Europe and there is no real help on the Intel web site as similar posts have not been answered.

Guess the best way may be to give up on the Dell device and buy a cheap USB wireless LAN dongle !!

regards   Steve

I had the same problem. I discovered some registry keys which affect this. Look for the entries where AdapterModel is Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN.

To make all entries possible for AdHoc mode channel setting:

Change ChannelMaskBand24B data to 3fff.

Change ChannelMaskBand24G data to 3fff.

To make the adapter find an access point on channel 13:

Change RecommendedChannel24 data to 13.
