Does Inspiron 5555 support dual band?
Hi,
I looked at the specs of my laptop:
ftp.dell.com/.../inspiron-15-5555-laptop_reference guide_en-us.pdf
and it says there:
Wireless • Wi-Fi 802.11ac • Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n • Bluetooth 4.0
which means that it's supposed to have dual band.
But I when I search for wifi networks, I don't see the 5GHz networks.
I do have a 5GHz network at home and I can detect it with my iPhone.
Do I need to enable something in the laptop to be bale to detect the 5GHz networks and connect to them, or update some SW, or my laptop doesn't support AC even though the spec says so?
Thanks,
Gadi

Hi gadi1977,
Thanks for posting.
According to this article: http://dell.to/2n9uiE4
Please be sure to check your system to see which card you have, as there are 5 available for this system. Go to: http://dell.to/2n9n7M4
Enter your system's service tag and click on "Submit".
Select "System Configuration" and expand "Components".
Scroll down to check the system specifications.
If you have the card installed that supports 5GHz, be sure you've turned it on:
Go to Desktop mode
Select Charms > Settings > PC Info
Click Device Manager (located in the top left of screen)
Click the > sign to expand the Network adapters entry.
Right-click the wireless adapter and click Properties.
Click the Advanced tab, click on the 5GHz setting, under value Select Enable.

It seems I don'y have 5GHz.
So why does the spec link I sent shows that it does?
Also when I bought it online it said this model has 5GHz.
Thanks,
Gadi

It seems like the forum shortens the url I put.
Trying to put it again:
http://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_inspiron_laptop/inspiron-15-5555-laptop_reference%20guide_en-us.pdf
If it doesn't work, the doc is under service tag -> Manuals tab on the left -> first doc, called
page 11.
It says:
Communications Ethernet 10/100 Mbps Ethernet controller integrated on system board Wireless • Wi-Fi 802.11ac • Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n • Bluetooth 4.0
Thanks,
Gadi
