Drivers for Intel Wifi 5100 installed in a Inspiron 1525........

I salvaged a Wifi 5100 Wireless Card from a machine headed to IT Heaven at the office. I have not had any luck finding a driver compatible for its use with 32 bit Vista or 32 bit Windows 7, no luck with either. I also have not been able to find any support in reference to this card and the 1525. Are they not compatible at all? I would love to have Draft N capability in my primary machine now that I have a Wireless N Router. If all else fails, I guess I have no other option but to buy the factory suggested Wireless 1505 or 4965.... If this is the only route, which is the better buy?

My wife is snickering as I type, her 2006 P4 Machine w/ Wireless N USB adapter is now  has a faster connection than my up to date laptop.

Thanks in advance for any assistance!!!

The Intel 5100 and 5300 Wifi cards come with the newer Montevina Centrino 2 chipsets and will not work with the 1525.

Thanks for the quick response. I was suspecting the chipsets........... With that said, I'm orderin a 4965!

Shame on all those who think Dell's support sites are worthless...

GsxrGuy,

I was just thinking. Maybe there are drivers from Intel's Website.

Even with Intel's driver it still will not function with the 1525.The 1525 is before the Montevina chipset.

I have a 1525 and Intel WIFI 5300 and works great. 5300 and 5100 use the same driver. Just get driver from Intel support. The driver from Dell does not work.
