Ethernet Wired Connection Issue

Hello,

I have an Inspiron 6000 laptop with a Broadcom 10/100 adapter. I keep getting the error "network cable unplugged" and there is no activity on the LED in the back. Device Manager is clean (no errors)

I have tried:

Several cables.

deinstalled the driver and rebooted.

Downloaded and installed a new driver and reinstalled it.

Reset all my LAN devices - Routers, Cable Modems, etc.

Same error continues.

Any help out there??? Thanks! Stan

While not common, it sounds like that port is dead.

I had that happen when a thunderstorm rolled through the area. I was not a happy camper.

Your options are to buy a USB - Ethernet adapter or a PCMCIA network card.

I'd go with the PCMCIA network card route route because it is less cumbersome and you can find them on eBay for good prices since most laptops now don't have PCMCIA slots.
