Help- Can't open javascript pages or open links using a new window

Can someone help me open webpages that use javascript. I am using explorer, but everytime I click on a link using javascript the new window does not load or appear. Also, when trying to check my e-mail on g-mail and aol it says a pop-up blocker is running, even though I have turned off all of the pop-up blockers.

Hey,

The issue on ur computer seems to be with the Active scripting of Java enabled on the computer.There are 2 steps that u cud try on ur PC which I am sure shud help u fix the issue

Method :

Open IE > tools > internet options > Advanced > uncheck disable script debugging for IE and for others > apply > OK

Do a system restart

This wud fix the issue, if this doesn't work downloading and install Windows script engine 5.6 on ur computer.

Here's the weblink for downloading the same:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=c717d943-7e4b-4622-86eb-95a22b832caa&DisplayLang=en

click on the link and in that click on continue, it wud ask for a genuine windows validation and wud give u a validation code, enter the code and that wud install this script engine on ur pc

Once its done, restart the pc and that will solve ur issue

Do revert back for any queries...

Cheers !!!!!!

Thank you for the suggestions Sandeep. I am still unable to open javascript pages or web pages in new windows after unchecking the script preferences and installing Windows script engine 5.6 . Anything else I should try? I appreciate the help!

One symptom (in particular, the inability to go to a new URL) sounds like a known infection.
What about other web browsers and their behavior(s)?
* Bon Echo alpha 2
* IE version 7 Beta 2 Preview
* Maxthon
( I use all of these, all the time. )

I have not tried those browsers, however I have tried Netscape and Firefox. I can open new windows in these browsers, but I am not able to open up any javascript links. For example, on AOL music I cannot open any music tracks or videos.

Could it be an infection that Norton is not picking up? I have been scanning my computer.

Thanks for any input you can offer.
