How do I remove a computer from my network?

I changed the name of my Desktop pc and now it shows up in my network with it's old name and it's new name. How do I remove the old name pc?

Hi pili,

There are two ways to remove the old name from the computer:

Method 1:
There is no explicit way to remove an obsolete computer name from the network.  The name might automatically go away after you restart the computer.

Method 2:

If issue persists, please follow the below steps and check if issue gets resolved: 

  1. Click Start.
  2. In search Type “CMD”.
  3. Press Enter.
  4. In command prompt, type the following command, then press ENTER:
    ipconfig /flushdns (there is a space between ipconfig and / ).
  5. It will show the message successfully flushed the DNS resolver cache.
  6. At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
    ipconfig /registerdns (there is a space between ipconfig and / )
