Inspiron N5110 loses wireless connection
My Inspiron N5110 loses the wireless connection frequently. We have many other devices in the house -- laptops, iPhones, etc. -- that continue to work flawlessly through the same router when I lose my connection. The troubleshooter generally leads me to resetting the router, even though, as I have indicated, the router is working properly. Any thoughts? Thanks!

richard.kelly,
The Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N 1030 adapter works on 2.4GHz ONLY
How to login to your wireless router I use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11. I would make a new SSID to make connecting easier.
You can also try these tweaks...
Go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number, then select your operating system. Under Network, download and install the latest drivers.
Try these tweaks....
Start, control panel, device manager. Click on Network and then right click on your wireless adapter, left click properties, power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.
Go to the power options, and changed the Wireless Adapter Setting, from Maximum Power Setting to Maximum Performance.

richard.kelly,
Make and moel of your wireless router and the type of security you're using? What channel?
What virus program and firewall are you using?
Can you run Finding System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and REGISTERED OWNER, if using XP, run an ipconfig /all log and post it back here.

Router is Netgear Wireless N-150 Router model WNR1000v2 firmware version V1.0.0.12NA
Security Options WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA-PSK [AES]
I am using McAfee Security Center with McAfee Personal Firewall v12.6 Build 12.6.186 Last update 12/20/2012
and as soon as I figure out how to answer your channel question I will do that.
Thank you for your help.

So far performance seems to be better. Two things: 1. Drivers and Downloads confusing (for me at least) since choosing to download all, I soon had an issue with an attempt to install a version of a driver older than what I already had installed. Now, is there some way to get the driver downloads/updates automatically in the same fashion that Windows updates are installed? 2. Power Management: allowing the device to run off sure makes the use of the computer annoying to say the least. I had to reestablish the connection every time I returned to use the computer, and while I don't have data to back this up, establishing the connection took significantly longer than it had before I started on this journey. So, I changed the power management settings back to what they were. This afternoon the connection has been flawless. I hope it continues.
Thanks so much for your help. I greatly appreciate it.
