Latitude 6540 Not Storing Wireless Password- must reenter every time

ON my home wireless network, I do not have to reenter my password every time I go on the wireless network. But, when I'm at my satellite office or at the parents house (every week), I have to reenter that Newwork password every time. Any known fixes??

Computer is only months old. I was having problems with the network malfunctioning after I loaded iTunes. Had to reinstall driver. So, I've already done that once. I was having the same issue before having to reinstall the driver.

rgcunningham60,

Try the following in Windows 7 to resolve the issue.

1. Right click on wireless network icon in the system tray.
2. Select Network and sharing center
3. In the left pane, select change adapter settings.
4. Right click on wireless network connection icon.
5. Select properties.
6. Turn off IEEE authentication.

You may also try the information below.

If you are having trouble with Windows 7 not saving your network security key, or reverting to some old key, the solution is as follows:

run msconfig (start > run (or just type into the "Search programs and files" field above the windows orb) > msconfig)

this brings up the System Configuration dialog box

click the Startup tab

scroll to find your wifi adapter's startup program (in my case it was NETGEAR)

uncheck the box next to this startup item

restart your computer

there was no option to turn off IEEE authentication.

I don't have anything checked in msconfig startup except finger pad
