Modem install after XP OS reload

It looks like there were four different modems in the 2400 (which is odd, becasue the modem in my 2400, a Broadcomm, is not listed under downloads for the 2400)

I cannot tell you which driver you need without knowing what modem you have. Follow this link and click on communications drivers. See if any of them look familiar....

And... for future reference, if a driver is working fine, leave it alone. If it works for you, there is no need to update it. And, unless the driver was corrupted, I cannot imagine how updating the driver would lead you to require a complete OS reinstall....

By the way, I believe the modem drivers are on a Resource CD (Drivers) or a disk that says For Reinstalling V.92 (Capable)/56K Telephony Data/Fax/Voice Modem Software.

Thanks for the info. I dont have the disk you mentioned, but will follow your link for a download. FYI, I only reinstalled the OS after spending over 3 hrs on the phone with Dell. They said that was my only remaining option.

I reloaded my OS also....after the hard drive died. I don't think that I was ever issued a CD with the software (application). I found the driver, and the modem works fine. Can anyone point me to a fax program to use with the Conexant D850? TIA
