New Inspiron 15 - slow wired and wireless Internet

I am having an issue with download speeds on a brand new Inspiron 15 3000 series. It arrived a couple of days ago.

Both wired and wi-fi internet is very slow compared to other devices on my network.  I am getting download speeds of 20Mbps, while my smart phone is getting 90+.  My previous 5+ year old Dell was also getting much faster speeds from the same router.

So far I have tried the following without any improvements:

Uninstalled McAfee
Turned off Firewalls completely (turned them back on when it did nothing)
Updated all network related drivers
Made sure that receive window auto-tuning level is set to normal
Disabled all the network adapters showing in device manager but the LAN and Wireless ones
The wireless card is configured for 802.11ac, so i blocked every other type of network coming from the Virgin Media Hub.

Disabled heuristics.

The laptop was also slow on the office internet in work.

Some setting in this computer seems to be capping out my download speeds and I have no idea what.

Hello! I just purchased an Inspiron 13 7000 and am experiencing the same issue with the internet. I tried uninstalling SmartBytes but the problem hasn't gone away. Do you have any other suggestions?

I have my 15-3000  slow (20Mb) on the intranet, but wireless 2.4G is ok, and can't detect the 5G, isn't it 5G supportive?

Can somebody explain it? thanks!

Add another one to the pile. I've got a xps8700 that I picked up recently as a 2nd computer. All my devices in the house get 100mbps. The Dell gets 30mbps tops. I've checked add/remove programs, services, etc. I don't see any Smartbyte app anywhere and I've got current drivers, etc.

Any suggestions if smartbyte doesn't seem to be the culprit? The only Wifi service I see is Wi-Fi Direct Service Connection.

My 2 year old Inspiron has download speeds half of what the ISP service provides and what I get from by desk to and BlueRay player.

If I turn off SmartByte, the browser can not connect to the internet. So this solution does not work for me.

Fabulous solution!  8 Mbps to 200 Mbps after doing this.  Why do these companies do this to us?

I have no issues with the wifi speed...just the ethernet/wired speed.  It's half what it should be.  Dell support has tried everything for weeks now and wants to reload windows.  I think it is probably the adaptor on the system board which of course they don't want to replace yet.

Thanks!!!, it worked for me. My download speed went from about 5Mbps to 208Mbps on my Dell Inspirion 15  5000 series.

Yeah they must have changed something because disabling SmartByte kills your connection now. This is so frustrating. Need to find a laptop maker that doesn't put  all of this junk on the pc.
