It shouldn't matter about my router... I have this laptop which works on both wireless networks cabled and wireless, but the other one doesn't. I've even tried using just IPv4 which doesn't work!

I have TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 set for DHCP enabled.

Did you try ipconfig/ release

ipconfig/ flush dns

Then restart your computer?

Put the computer next to the router. Try to connect. What happens?

Go to device manager, network, 1397 adapter, advanced. Look for Antenna Diversity. Some have this and some don't If you have this try changing it from Auto to Aux.

Restart your computer.

Try running WinSock XP Fix

Mine is set up exactly the same. as your image. Although it just doesn't work.

I've tried releasign and renewing, and flush dna.. nothing works. Antenna Diversity is set to Aux altready. The problem is it wont connect wired or wireless so no matter it's position it still doesn't work. It can read that there is a wireless connection. But on 2 different routers it doesn't work. I've another laptop which works fine. The two laptop's network settings are exactly the same. Will that WinSock XP Fix work with Windows 7?

WinsockXPFix, if you download, then click the fix button works on Windows 7 but you get an error message at the end. You do have to restart your computer, when it done running. Here is the manual method.

Winsock2 How to determine and to recover from Winsock2 corruption in Windows Server 2003, in Windows XP, and in Windows Vista This should also work for Windows 7.

Place the computer near the router and see if it connects. If it does, sometimes the antenna wires come off the wireless adapter. See anything strange in the device manager?

I tried the Winsock fix and it hasn't worked. There's nothing strange in the device manager.. I've compared my current laptop to the one that doesn't work.

I'd be rather sceptical about it being a lose antenna wire as it can pick up the wireless signal, it just doesn't connect. I can't even connect to the router with that laptop.

Although the laptop did have the WIn7 Anti-Virus virus but it has since been cleaned... Anything it might have corrupted or removed??

I also noticed that in the device manager the laptop that doesn't work is missing a few things from the non PnP drivers sections... click view > show hidden items

I can't seem to find 'Windows Socket 2.0 Non-IFS Service Provider Support Environment' and 'IP traffic filter driver'

Although it does have BCM42RLY... which my laptop which can connect to the internet does not have!

Not sure if you can do this.

Start, all programs, accessories, right click on cammand prompt, right click run as administrator. Type

sfc /scannow          (space between the c and /)

Usually you put the operating system disk before running this to look for missing or corrupt Windows files and they usually get replaced.

Try to conect at a WiFi Hotspot.  See if you can connect there. I have seen people use Mac Address filtering and forgot about that.

Is your wireles router using these Recommended Wireless Router Settings, I use channel 11.

Have seen a few computers that the wireless adapter antenna came off. If you have the computer next to the router and can connect, that could be a possibility.

F2, Fn and F2 and some have a switch on the side, to turn on the wireless adapter.
