Problem with Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n

Hi All!

I have a problem with Dell Wireless 1704 802.11b/g/n in my Dell 17R Inspiron 5720. Speed of my wifi connection changing from 5.5Mb/s to 54Mb/s all the time.

I`m using Windows 7 Ultimate x64 OS. Problem is with wifi card Broadcom 4356, another laptop (HP) has stable speed 150Mb/s. I tried different options of card driver and router D-Link DIR-320NRU,  but nothing have changed.

Is anyone can help me, please??

Issue Resolved by replacing card!

Dear All.

I have resolved the issue by replacing the card with an older Intel 5300. This is a 2.4 and 5G dual band. Although the laptop does not have 3 wires for Dual band, I hooked up the wires to 1 and 2 on the Card.

I can now connect at 300Mbps.

Hope this helps.

The problem with Intel 5300 is that it does not have in-buit BT. What are you doing about BT?

Dell, how long we have to wait for you to do something? So many people have bought your product and it not working well. Аnd stop writing that we need to change Antenna Diversity to Aux and Roam Tendency to Aggressive, this not working. Do we all have to replace our wireless adapters? if you pay me a new wireless adapter or you do me a gift, no problem, I will replace it but otherwise no thanks. It's your fault. Do something.

I've bought the new Inspiron 3721 with this wifi/bluetooth 1704.

It hasn't been 2 weeks I bought it and see that the wifi speed is dropping all the time.

Any solution?

I'm with windows 7.

No hope of Dell help, so live with it or find something else. It is crazy the extent to which you have to go to get the thing anywhere to just working.

Well honestly, I did not even notice it missing since I have not used bluetooth in years. Wifi and 3G has served me well. (Being an iPhone,iPad owner probably made me stop relying on BT)

However, if BT is reaaly required, you could always ask or get one of those micro USB dongle which are pretty tiny and concealed.

Might actualy increase your BT range as well :)

Hello,

i had similar problem: all of a sudden the wireless connects and disconnects, comes and goes. I thought I can fix it --- tried many different things -- including going to Belkin setup page (192.168.2.1) and unfortunately there accidentally I changed the wireless setup to Access Point. now I can not convert back.to wireless. I can not get to Belkin set up. no access to 192.186.2.1. I do not want to reset to factory config, because I have other wireless devices that will be messed up. please help me to get to Belkin setup without reset. any idea?!

Just look for a reset button on the router.. When it is powered on, using a paper clip or pen, keep the reset button pressed for at least 10 seconds. This should bring it to a factory reset. Good Luck.

great suggestions -- awesome the way the dell execs sit back, collect bonuses, do layoffs, and produce crap ... then we, the customers, with our dell pocs Substitute character removed as per TOU> get to go online (as opposed to the horrific outsourcing service 2 which we r entitled (because we donated to dell execs) ... we search for answers 2 solve the problem:  i bought a poc, now how do i live with it until i can afford another.  i'm a senior citizen -- i can afford another ... like never ... thanks dell for my poc.  live long and prosper.
