Hello, I am JuliuszD, and I have a bit of a situation. I have recently re-installed my windows 7, and the first thing I noticed was that I don't have internet. I did the troubleshoot and after using the troubleshoot to find internet access, I receive a message saying: "Windows did not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-instal the driver." I went into device manager, and under "Other devices" I found that "Ethernet controller, Network Controller, PCI Simple Communications Controller, SM Bus controller" have an exclamation mark. After uninstalling all of them and re-installing, I receive a message that says that the driver was not installed successfully. Any thoughts? I have a Dell XPS L702X.
When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Start with the Desktop/Notebook system software and the chipset drivers and follow the list.
Hi Can I be ajerk and ask you for help? I have a DELL Latitude E6440 Service <Service tag removed> The hard drive failed. I grabbed a HDD from an older DELL and installed I put the Windows 7 Pro disk in and did a new install of Windows 7 pro. Now several drivers are missing. I tried to reinstall and same issue. I have gone to DELL site added model and service tag and downloaded all the drivers onto a USB. I try to update the drivers on the E6440 but no matter what path I take through RUN or Device Manager when I try to install it tells me theres either no .inf file in the location or that the "procdure entry point AddDllDirectory could not be located in the dynamic linklibrary KERNEL32.dll Missing drivers are; USB Controller PCI Network Ethernet Any ideas? Thanks so much
I installed windows 7 from my re-instalation DVD. This is the only CD that came with my computer. I had no options to choose which drivers to instal first, I just re-installed windows 7. I finally figured out how to receive internet via device manager, but I have been having other problems...I have internet, but everything is slow. If I try to open up anything on my desktop, it usually says "Not responding" even if I just want to open a picture on my desktop. I have downloaded several registry fix programs, but none seem to work. I have installed all of the drivers that had an exclamation mark next to them in the device manager, but still no luck. I still have all of my old files from before the windows 7 re-installation.
When you install using the Operating System disk, you need to install the drivers in the correct order. The notebook system utility and the chipset drivers know what is installed on each specific system. A DRIVERS disk should have come with your system.
The easiest method, no disks needed is Restoring Your Computer´s Software to the Factory Settings
You can download the drivers from Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag number. Select your operating system.
emoticon.Idea.title Hint emoticon.Idea.title When downloading the drivers, make a folder for each drivers and name it with the device it belongs with to make it easier to install them in the proper order.
Desktop System Software or Notebook System Software(if applicable)
Chipset or SMBus driver
Processor Driver (if applicable)
Input Drivers (keyboard/mouse)
Restart the computer and tap F8 once a second until you see the screen. Choose repair my computer, choose your language, then username and password. The select the option for factory image.
Same here JuliudzD , but i've found this site with some solutions i think, i haven't tried it out yet but soon i will i think 😛

Hi! I am having this same problem but I have a Dell Optiplex 990. Can you please help me figure out which drivers to download? For example, under Serial ATA there are 4 different drivers available. Do I need all of these or is one of them specific to my computer? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated because I am not a computer expert. Thanks!
