I was reading the fine print at this site. http://www.sbc.com/gen/general?pid=6431 The price does not include the cost of tech support for install, $ 150-200,and has a early termination fee of $200. You also have to pay $50 for the modem, after the company gives you a credit. This could be an expensive contract. The cost per month at the end of the contract would be the current rate, whatever that will be.
would the current rate be likely to rise drastically after a year? I just want to make sure this isn't some deal to get me hooked for a year, then spring a $40 monthly fee on me.
I just contracted with SBC Yahoo DSL for $14.95/mo for a 12 month contract. Free modem except for taxes and $12.95 S & H. Self installation [easy] is free. SBC provides a full package for installation. Price after one year is currently $29.95/mo, but you can always negotiate with them. I'm currently paying $9.95 /mo for dial-up, so an additional $5/mo for DSL is a bargain. After 12 months have passed, I'll re-evaluate the SBC service and price and go from there. There's lots of hi-speed Internet competition so we should all take advantage of it!
