Wireless Internet Connection?

I recently recieved an Inspiron 2200.  Tried getting onto the internet at home, but it couldn't detect a connection anywhere.  I have no knowledge of wireless connections whatsoever, or laptops, for that matter.  The computer was supposed to come with a wireless card (is that what I need?) and in the slot for the card is a plastic piece.  I don't know if that's a card, or just a piece of plastic to keep the slot from getting dusty.  Is that what I'm missing?

yup that plastic piece is for dust protection and shipping saftey. Buy a linksys card  and take that plastic card out and slide the new card from the store in. you should pickup wireless with no problems. you do need a wireless router. i think linksys has a package deal comes with router and card. works well together.

jose,

You need to have a wireless network in order to connect to a wireless network.  If all you have right now is a dsl modem, you will need to get a wireless router and connect that to the modem so that the internet can be broadcast through your home over the wireless network.
