XPS 8300 brand new connects to the Broadcom Netlink Communication card only after rebooting 3-4 times at cold-start.

Hi,

I just bought an XPS 8300 brand new.

After woeking OK a few days, now it connects to the Broadcom Netlink Communication card only after rebooting 3-4 times at cold-start.

Anybody experiencing the same problem?

All the other home computers are connecting from the first shot. (two laptops and another desktop. They much slower computers.

At the begining I have re-installed the driver (from DVD and downloaded), but not this is the problem.

The computer has to get a bit warm.

When it does not connect, the Dell Test tool DOES NOT SEE (does not appear in the test list) the Broadcom NetLink Gigabite Ethernet card.

I am a bit dissapointed, it is a brand new computer, I expected more than problems from the very begining.

Thanks, Cristian, Montreal, Canada

The same problem here

Just two weeks ago I started to switch off my machine at night and next day when I switch it on I don't get internet connection

My XPS8300 only connects to the Broadcom Netlink Communication card only after rebooting 3-4 times at cold-start.

I didn't noticed it before because I used to leave the machine on all the time

The local area connection doesn't display under network connections till I restart the machine a couple of times

Put me on the list as well.  8 month old XPS 8300 drops ethernet connection (and card disappears from device manager) until I reboot a few times.  BONUS:  my mini wireless card will not connect to my network either!!  I have updated everything.  I have 2 Sony laptops that connect flawlessly as well as a new Dell XPS 17 lapper that connects without issue.  Running trouble shooting does nothing to help (but when does it ever).  At least the wireless card shows up in device manager!

I was asked to update BIOS and network card drivers from Dell site which I already had

BIOS version  A06

Network card Broadcom Netlink Gigabit Ethernet Version A00 14.2.0.7

Waiting for Dell to come back to me next week to send technician to the house

@ Thanks xps8300P

I did exactly that and it works for now! Thanks!

The change is to put Wake on Lan from S4/S5 enabled in the bios

Enabling Wake up on LAN in the BIOS doesn't make any difference.  It's enabled by default in DELL machine

The motherboard replacement is still working, however, I notice on a cold boot, it appears to still be looking for the network connection.  Don't notice much of an issue/delay on graphics for viewing youtube in full screen/minimized screen. A new thing started last week where my system is turning itself on during the middle of the night.  First 3am... now 6am.  I checked for any scheduled tasks/jobs... none listed.

Are the people who got their mobos replaced trying to use Wake on Lan (WOL) as well? If so, does it work from a shut downed state?

I bought a refurb and wondering if I got a dud. It will wake up from the off state within about 10 minutes of turning it off, but anything longer it won't work. Very strange.

Wondering if I should try a new NIC...

Had mine replace back in January, and within a few days, half of the problem was fixed.  When I turn on the computer, it connects without having to re-boot several times.  How ever, I don't use WOL, but if I did, I would assume it doesn't work as if I look at my router, there is no light on when the machine is off.  The light on my router should show blue when the computer is off.  And it does for a short time after a shut-down, but then it goes off.

Very disappointed will Dell on this issue...
