cannot connect to wifi
Hi folks,
I have having trouble connecting to my wifi or any wifi at all. I recently had huge problems with my laptop and had to do a complete uninstall of windows. After doing this I couldn't find my original CDs that came with the laptop but the IT guy in work kindly connected me up with windows for 30 days (I think) or until I get the issue resolved. Hopefully someone can help as I've borrowed a friends dongle and don't want to use it too often. I did an ipconfig/all and got the following results:

Louise,
Download and install these drivers in the exact order(reboot when prompted)...
Dell System Software, v.7.0.1, A01
Intel HM57 Express Chipset Family, v.9.1.1.1025, A00
Intel Management Engine Interface, v.6.0.0.1179, A02
Realtek RTS5159 Card Reader, RTS5138 Card Reader, v.6.1.7600.30127, A01
Then install...
Realtek RTL8103T Ethernet Controller, v.7.13.112.2010, A00
Go to Dell Warranty Status enter your service tag, click on original configuration. Look and see which wireless adapter you have installed. Then go to Drivers & Downloads enter your service tag, select your operating system, under network, download and install the drivers.
Then download and install Dell QuickSet, v.10.5.0.1, A00
Places to look to see if your Connection is enabled

Apologies if I come across as a bit stupid but I've no IT experience and you ask in your previous post to check which wireless adapter I've installed. Under the components section under original configuration I get the following list: haven't got as far as drivers & downloads part yet where I enter my service tag and select my operating system but just wanted to check with you whether I am on the right path so far.
Thanks for your help and your patience.
Louise.

Hi Rick,
Yes. The IT guy in work gave me an Asus Wireless USB Adapter - which he said would help me connect to my wifi at home until I could get the situation sorted out with yourselves.
Is this causing a problem now?

Louise,
Shut down your computer and remove the Wireless USB Adapter.
Start the computer without the USB Adapter. Look in the places to see if your Connection is enabled
You should be able to connect using the adapter inside the computer. Without the adapter, can you run an ipconfig /all and/or Network Interface

Hi Rick, I have to use the Wireless USB Dongle to access the internet as I cannot find the cables to connect to my router. I ran an IP Config and these are the results:

Now when I open the network and sharing centre the connection is showing up there and I have the wifi turned on but still cannot connect. Please help. Also I cannot make out the dell product key at the back of my machine - I think it is heat worn. It looks like CR26G-VHQMJ-V4P37-J8W66-J8GYM and X16-96072.
Many thanks for all your help so far.

Louise,
Start, control panel, network and sharing center, click on your connection, properties(when you're there, do you see just your connection or do you also see a local connection?)
Look for TCP/IPv4 and TCP/IPv6 and click on properties for each.
Have your settings match mine.
