dell 17-3721 suddenly stopped connecting to internet

Hi - all other devices in house connect fine. Dell wont connect to wifi, or via ethernet directly into router. Recognises my phone hot spot but wont connect. To all it says it is connected but webpages just wont load.

Have checked in device manager and says network card is fine and drivers up to date. Have restarted router .


any help would be gratefully recieved

I have seen this problem caused by the Anti virus, usually Norton/Symatntec. It blocks all incoming and outgoing connections. Check your antivirus for the option of disabling it (temporarily) to see if that resolves it.

if that does resolve it, get your license information for that antivirus, then uninstall and reinstall. There may be a way to repair the installation, but it will depend on who you have for antivirus.

You're a star :) have deleted avg and have my internet back - many thanks, off to download bitdefender instead!
