modem on hold procedure
I have read the faq's and searched this board and there is never a strait answer!
I have a dimension 8200 with conexant hsf v92 rtad speakerphone modem, win xp, use netzero (w/v92 access number). The drivers currently on the machine are from 8/01and have no netwaiting software factory installed.
when i put in the service tag i see a listing of this 4 conexant drivers for the v92 but they list as (2) conexant/gvc v92 soft data fax modem or (2) data fax voice modem. which one of these do I use or do I even need to update????
Where can I download the netwaiting software?
thanks

rgarrett,
Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.
The Conexant HSF V.92 56K RTAD does not list that it supports the modem on hold function that some of the newer modems support. I show no modem on hold software was shipped with this modem and could not find any available for download either. I don’t recall seeing anyone on the Forum indicating that they got modem on hold to work with this modem but if anyone has, maybe they will post additional information based off of their experience.

m1943a,
Thank you for visiting the Dell Community Forum.
As far as I know, AOL does not support the modem on hold function. I believe that they do offer a similar service for an additional fee though; I would advise contacting AOL for information on what services of this nature they offer.
You can find some information on this in the following Dell Knowledge Base document:
Why Does My Internet Connection Drop When I Get an Incoming Call While Using Modem On Hold?

I hate to weigh in right in the middle of a disagreement, but....
For MOH to work, the ISP must enable it on their end, in addition to it being enabled on the dialing in computer. Service providers can choose how long the MOH feature lasts (for NetZero, which I have, it's 4 minutes). AOL does not support MOH. They disconnect you from their servers immediately when the line is interrupted. They want people to pay extra for their own version of a feature which does the same thing as MOH.
If you don't trust Dell's website on the topic (previously given in a post) see these two impartial sites, which both confirm AOL's lack of support for MOH....
http://www.modemsite.com/56k/v92l3.asp
http://www.v92.com/faqs/
If MOH is a key feature to you, then switch to a service provider which supports it. Of course, there are numerous factors which affect MOH, not just the service provider, so even if you switch, it may not work. But it will not work with AOL... no matter what you do on your end.
I use NetZero Platinum with a BCM v.92 modem, driver 3.5.24.0, and MOH works flawlessly.

my thread seems to have been hijacked by the aol question....
I have netzero and am using the v92 line, call waiting,etc... as I said. Double coupon seems to say this does work with the correct driver and software-and I have the exact seame setup!
All I am asking is where can I download the driver and software?

I agree that the AOL discussion took over, but the problem is the same. I have this same problem. refer to :
http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board/message?board.id=dim_modem&message.id=26808
I use Bellsouth and they are supposed to support v92. I don't seem to have software to turn on the v92 features. Any help is appreciated.

I to have the Conexant HSF V92 56K RTAD Speakerphone PCI M modem preinstalled on my dell 8200 and I am looking for the software so I can make it able to use modem on hold. It does not have anything associated with it right now to enable it to have modem on hold.
On the thread of m1943 they said they have the same modem and that they installed the software themselves to make their factory installed modem able to use modem on hold.
Also Double coupon suggested to get the HSFi D/F smart Modem & Driver plus the BVPR MOH software to make my modem able to use modem on hold
Now I need to know if the link that you are suggesting http://www.modem-drivers.com/drivers/53/53312.htm will download the correct software as suggested to make my modem work with modem on hold? And if not could you or anyone lead us to the software suggestions. I am a bit confused if the drivers at the link you are suggesting is what is required for my modem and do not want to download something I am not sure exactly what it is. thanks

Forget about that last post... The Conexant HSF V92 56K RTAD Speakerphone PCI M modem does MOH. Dell just didn't bother to give you a copy of NetWaiting.

Finally got around to it. However I could open all of the help files etc. but when I tried to open the program itself I would get nothing. I finally got a mesage saying that this file was not found "MODEMMOH.dll" and that reinstalling may fix the problem. I tried reinstalling it but it did not help. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
