will i have to subscribe to a wireless carrier and get an air card if my dell inspiron 1545 has a 802.11B/G wireless mini card or will i just need to purchase the subscrition?

You would need to subscribe to a service and purchase a card from the provider. The 802.11 card you have now is for local networks.
