wireless dial up??

Pardon my ignorance, I'm new to this forum and just got an inspiron 5100, also have a desktop, but have dial up internet. is it possible to create a Wireless network so I can use my laptop wirelessly??

Yes.  As long as you have an external modem you can get a SMC7004AWBR (I saw them advertised for $40 this week) or a D-Link DI-713P.  Both have the ability to dial the external modem when you need to access the internet, and as a bonus they both have a built-in print server.

Thanks John, I'll look into that. I supossed the conection will be even slower with dial up. I'll try it until I swith to DSL.

You can also use an Actiontec Dual PC Modem with any Gateway as I am doing now writing this using it and  a Linksys WRT54G. The Actiontec has dual 10/100 Mbps Ethernet LAN ports with a built-in DHCP server. WAN is RJ11 and supports v.92, v.90 and K56Flex, slow but effective.
