PowerConnect 6224 will not link SFP+ to my HP DL580 G7

If I connect the SFP+ ports in loop-back they will link up with no issues.

If I connect my 2 servers directly together with different SFP+ pcie cards they will link up.

If either server is connected to the 6224, they will not link up.

I have tried disabling auto neg. on the switch but no change.

The SFP+ nic in my HP is the NC524SFP 10G module updated to the latest firmware.

Also the 6224 is running 3.3.17.1.

I appreciate any assistance.

the front port will always be 1g, the expansion modules will have their own ports that are 10g.

That's a good call out. Without that expansion module the switch will not support 10Gb connection.

I believe the issue is that the ports on the 6224 are not 10g. they are only 1g.

Apparently, you need the expansion module on the back to provide 10G ports. Which is insane. I swear the specs on dells webpage for 6224 mentions 4 10gb ports.

I have ordered 2 expansion modules with dual 10GB XFP ports because they are tremendously cheaper than the SFP modules.

I will have to replace my sfp cables with XFP to SFP or with XFP fiber adapter > lc fiber to lc fiber > sfp+ > server

With the modules installed will it increase the port speed of the front SFP ports? or will they always be 1g?

The firmware is up to date, and you have already tried many of the things that I would suggest. Do you have any other transceivers that can be used? What are the part numbers of the transceivers you are using? When you disabled auto negotiation, did you also try changing the speed of the link? Try setting to 1000 instead of 10000.
