Setting routing for 3 subnets (62XX series switches)
Hi All,
I have literally spent the last 24 hours trying to get this to work and it is clearly beyond my ability. :(
What I need to is set up routing between 3 different networks(40.X,50.X,3.X). I have at least 2 62XX series switches in each location/NOC. Two locations also have 55XX and 54XX series switches(40.X and 3.X). I am able to link each network to the other. Also, two of the locations (40.X and 3.X) have their own internet connection. The other network will use the 40.X network for it's internet.
As I mentioned earlier I have spent the last 24 hours pouring through guides and pounding out CLI commands to try and get this to work. My doomed approach has been to create 2 VLANs on a designated "router" in each location pointing to the other locations. For example at 50.X on switch/router 50.1 I create 2 VLANs. Assign the VLANs to their respective ports. Configure those ports in general mode and assign PVID. I also give each VLAN a IP number and tell it to route. But nothing will cross the boundary from one network to another. I suspect I need to perhaps set up some static routes or something?
One thing of note, unlike most all of the guides I have read, I am connecting a router to another router (actually a router to 2 other routers if all works as planned). All of the guides I have seen use a 62XX to route between two other layer 2 switches.
Could someone point me in the right direction? I would like to get this done...after a nap off course. :)
TIA
Mozy
