on logging server logs not showing up with hostname for Dell switches

Hi,

I hope you can assit with the following

with our dell switches logs are not showing up with hostname on our logging server.

Do we have simillar command like origin id  (witch cisco)  switches where the host name is appended before the syslog or another way.

Thanks,

Try using the hostname command to set the hostname on the switch. Page 409 ftp://ftp.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powerconnect/powerconnect-5448_reference%20guide_en-us.pdf

There is not a command that does what origin-id does.

Thanks for the swift response

running a very old version of code is it the same in higher versions of code will it send the name for  a switch in higher version if a hostname is configured

SW version    2.0.0.46
Boot version    2.0.0.0

the command we use    logging x.x.x.x port 1518

do we have another method to achieve the same like snmp traps etc.   (the log we are interested in is when some one does an ssh to the switch)

Many thanks,

Ze

You could try it but I don’t see anything in the release notes to indicate that it was added.
