I have a 4600 that has 256 MB of Ram. I want to upgrade it. Can I remove the memory I have and upgrade to 4 GB? I have a total of four slots with two being empty. Please help.

Hello,
Yes your system can be upgraded to 4GB of memory.
The system limit is four 1GB chips for a total memory max of 4GB. 2GB chips will not work though. I suggest that you read the memory pages on my web site listed below before you buy. Dell systems are picky with memory upgrades which is explained there.

Thanks, If I remove my existing memory (256 mb) and install 4 GB, will I lose any data?
