Dell optiplex 7020 MT psu upgrade

I have a Dell optiplex 7020 MT that I’m trying to upgrade the psu for. I took out the old psu that was installed and put in a new 500w Aresgame psu from Amazon.Connected all cables (including 24 to 8 pin adapter) but nothing.  It works with the inspection tool it came with but when connected to the motherboard it doesn’t turn on. Reseated cmos battery nothing works. Please Help

Try using a 500w EVGA BR PSU.  It has 120w on the 3.3v/5v rails.  The Aresgame only has 95w on those rails.  When those rails get skimped, it's nothing but trouble.  Not best to go cheap on a PSU.

Is there a particular GPU you plan on powering?

I’m powering a Radeon r9 290.

Due to the Radeon r9 290 being a 250w card, I'm changing my suggestion to a 750w-800w EVGA BR PSU.  It has 150w on the aforementioned rails.  A GPU card also uses power from either one or both of those rails besides 12v.  Screengrab below is from a 700w unit.
