Dell optiplex 760 Gpu upgrade
I am in need of guidance. I recently bought my first dell computer, a 760 sff with all stock components except 8 gbs of ram with the intention to upgrade it into a budget gaming pc. I had seen this done in youtube videos where a guy takes one of these tired old machines and puts a quad core cpu in it and a gtx 750 ti gpu and suddenly it can play games at decent frame rates on medium to low settings. After purchasing I went on the forums looking for recommendations for a gpu and found that some people said I couldn't put a 750 in my machine because of the psu while other sources said I could. I would like to know before I spend my money on a gpu that wont work in my device.

235W is TOO SMALL for 75w video card.
GT1030 works fine because its a 40w card.

GT 1030 is a 30w card.
I've ran across the same video you linked. Yes, the 235w PSU can run a 60w card. Some YouTubers have been running 75w watt cards on 240w PSU's. However, did you notice that the GTX 750 ti is sitting outside the case?
Check for bottleneck. For example, if you have a Q9650 CPU, Google search "Q9650 GTX 750 ti bottleneck." Click on the option that's PC Builds. Not bad, bottleneck is only 2.71%. Below 10% is good.
With the GT 1030, we find out:
Graphic card is too weak for this processor:
Intel Core2 Quad Q9650 (Clock speed at 100%) with NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030 (Clock speed at 100%) x1 will produce 23.03% of bottleneck. Everything over 10% is considered as bottleneck.
GT 1030 with the E8400, anyone? Anyone?
PC Builds didn't come up with those options. 2nd choice GPUCheck says less than 8%.
PC Builds did pair GT 1030 with Q6600 for 0.21% bottleneck.
Good news is I haven't seen negative feedback in this forum on the GT 1030 and it fits. 760 SFF is a tighter fit than in SFF's in the next generation newer than it.
