Does Dell Optiplex 5060's M.2 slot has PCIe 3.0 x4 speed?
Dell said that Optiplex 3060's M.2 slot has PCIe 3.0 x4 speed in it's manual (Link, Page 12), but ironically, many users reported that they only get PCIe 2.0 x4 speed (Link1, Link2).
I'd like to buy a Optiplex 5060, which has chipset Q370 instead of H370 in 3060. In Dell's 5060 manual (Link, also Page 12), Dell only lists some official SSD model and don't provide any speed details (unlike 3060's manual, very strange!).
So my question is,
a) Any real user with Optiplex 5060 can help confirm which speed does 5060's M.2 slot support?
b) Which SSD are you using with 5060 and any NVMe boot or compatibility problems?
c) Will Dell provide a screw with the M.2 slots? (Samsung 970 EVO don't provide screw in the package at least in my country here, so maybe I need to find a screw separately. That's troublesome.)
(Both 3060 and 5060 have two M.2 slots, one for SSD, the other for WLAN, this thread is discussing the one for SSD.)

... but I do know a Dell OptiPlex 5060 with pre-installed NVMe SSD will be VERY-FAST (like fully boots in 20 seconds).
I suggest at least a 5060 (or better).
I suggest a tower model if you like to do upgrades or want the Intel-i7 config.
You can get metric M.2 SSD screws at any computer-shop, hardware-store, hobby-store, and even Amazon.

If you drill down within this search on userbenchmark, you can see users are running Samsung 970 in the OptiPlex 5060. Similarly for a search for the Samsung 960. It's hard to interpret SSD performance numbers, though - it doesn't look like a standardized test. Normally, I would expect peak performance with a Samsung 970 at ~3500 MB/s if PCIe 3 x4 or ~1700 MB/s if PCIe 3 x2. I don't see that in the test numbers. Compare with a machine known to perform at 3500 MB/s and you'll see what I mean.
If native M.2 isn't full speed, might be able to address and get full performance with a M.2 NVMe SSD to PCIe add-in card.

I really hope the PCIe 2.0 issue with the 3060 hasn't infected the entire line, as my situation is crazy as it is. Buying an 8th gen PC in late-2018 and then discovering it's running on an ancient PCIe 2.0 bus.

Reading all these posts I was really worried that my new Optiplex i7 5070 wouldn't provide pcie 3.0 four lane. I was very happy to see I'm getting read speeds of just below 3,000MB/s. I was really worried since the 1TB Samsung EVO 970 was about $170 on Amazon.
Now, I also ordered an i5 Latitude 7480 and I'm pretty sure that's PCIE 2.0, 2 lane. It comes with a M.2 SATA 128GB SSD but it does have an NVME compatible slot. Really wondering if a 1TB Samsung EVO 970 is worth it, will be backward compatible and stable, or should I just upgrade to an M.2 1TB SATA SSD?
