Graphic card for Optiplex 7070 MT

Hi all,

I just bought an Optiplex 7070 MT 210-ASEEOptiPlex 7070 MT BTX

On Dell document I found that it can handle up to a nVidia GeForce GTX 1050, is that correct? Because the system has 260W and that card looks like it needs a power supply of 300W.

Thank you for the help.

Regards,

Jose

I would go with the GTX 1050 Ti AERO ITX 4GT OC.  It's 6.1" long and will fit.  2GT = 2GB VRAM and 4GT = 4GB VRAM.  The 6.9" long GTX 1050 ti 4GT OC would also fit.  The AERO ITX is a little newer and better.  Here's a comparison.  Any other specs can aslo be Googled.

LP = low profile and isn't a requirement for your tower.  Sometimes the LP version of card sacrifices something to get it down in size.

As for a photo of the doc I asked for - Turns out I have a copy of the spec sheet and the GTX 1050 ti is on there.

A few screengrabs wlll show when approved by moderation:

Could you upload photo of the Dell document?  Just in case, make sure no personal or identifying info is on it, including service tag #.

I believe the 260w PSU can power the GTX 1050 ti.  https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=22inTVR4P9o  I don't believe Dell would suggest you can run a GTX 1050 ti just so that you would have to buy a bigger PSU that would have to sit outside the case.  Also, the blue PCI-e x16 is for 75w cards.

During the course of the last couple of months, I've quite routinely linked YouTube videos for the 7010/7020/9010/9020, various sizes, PSU's ranging from 240w to 290w, powering 75w cards, including the GTX 1050 ti.  Optiplex 7010 + GTX 1050 ti + YouTube List  I went this route because 7070 videos were harder to pull up, hence the link for the 7060 above.  In that list, sizes and PSU's vary, starting at 240w.

Another might bear down differently, which is why I linked videos and asked for doc photo.  One could claim that the PC's quit after videos were made.  There's too many videos to just be coincidence.  That other one likes to link videos too.

Since there are 75W cards listed  for the TOWER Model there might be an optional Power supply.
I would check with @DELL-Chris M

My Guess would be that the
260W typical 92% Efficient PSU (80 PLUS Platinum) power supply is required for that.

I have seen that there are different types of cards:

- 2GT OC

- 4GT LP

- Aero ITX 4G OC

Which one is the correct one?

Thanks again!

Hello, I have an Optiplex 7070mt, the original graphics card is a GT 730, it’s a horror! I tried to install a GTX 1650 but the computer crashes after 1 minute.

My power supply is 260W, your power supply is 260W or 360W because apparently there are optional 360W power supplies, if you have a 360W could you give me the reference so that I am trying to find one, a photo of the label will be great.

@stof22 ,

Please know that I did some digging and could not find a 360w PSU for the 7070 for sale.  I could only find one listing on ebay that was sold out.

Hello, thank you for your response,

concerning my Optiplex, is that the "service tag" number you are asking me ?

I would never ask for your service tag.  It's not public info.

On occasion, @DELL-Cares  or @DELL-Chris M (moderator) might ask for it via private message to further assist.

I do not see optional power supply.

@DELL-Chris M

would know the part number if there is one.

All,

Due to power outages here in central Texas, I am only on periodically.

The 100w GTX 1650 SUPER, with 6-pin connection, most likely needs the optional 360w PSU.

This is mainly based on experience on this forum the last 3 years.  Also in relation to documentation for other Optiplex's with similar PSU's.  I wasn't able to find either the 260w PSU or the 360w PSU for the 7070 for sale or images thereof.  I couldn't find if the 260w PSU comes with a 6-pin connector for GPU's.  Chris M might be looking into this as well.

Granted most are here after they have their PC, there are some that investigate first.  If one needs a 360w PSU, at least for now, the best bet is to buy the 7070 with it.  If it's bought refurb or used, one will likely have to ask the seller which one it comes with.

"" 260w PSU comes with a 6-pin connector for GPU's.""

The exact quote is  "I couldn't find if the 260w PSU comes with a 6-pin connector for GPU's."

" 260w PSU comes with a 6-pin connector for GPU's."

the 6 pin 2x3 connector implies 150W to 375W for gpu

So there are Zero 260W power supplies that have 150W AUX PCI connector.

Chris...will the 7070 MT with 260 W PSU really handle a "4WY5P Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Super?" My research indicates that GTX 1650 Supers need a PCI power connector that I don't see on these power supplies. Am I missing something?
