I've installed a 3 pin 120mm case fan into my 3010 MT and connected it to the empty FAN_SYS1 header. The fan spins when the machine boots then does nothing, even with fan control override set in bios. Either way the fan will not stay on. Will a standard case fan not run off these headers? I'm considering getting a Y-splitter for the rear exhaust fan (FAN_SYS2) and putting both on the same header. Any insight would be very helpful. Service tag is <Service tag removed> by the way
Dell does not use standard wiring or Pinouts on their fan headers.
For 3 wire they reverse 12v and tach.

This can lead to self destruction for a dell fan on standard motherboard or the other way round.
This is the CPU FAN for Example.

Even with the 12v and tach wires reversed the fan will not spin. Tried FAN_SYS2 header and get a fan related error in bios as well. Is there a known workaround for using standard fans with a dell motherboard or am I going to have to buy a fan controller?
Plugging standard fan on reversed may have burnt out the fan AND may have burnt out the fan power on the motherboard and permanently damaged the sensor. Thats why I said self destruct.
You are also not paying attention to the order and the wires.
Its not 2 wires swapped its all 4.
