Optiplex 5050 BIOS

Hi,

I recently purchased an ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro M.2 PCIe SSD for my DELL Optiplex 5050. It is configured as my E drive. The C drive is a Dell supplied SATA SSD and I use Casper to clone the C to the E ~once a week. Changing the boot order in BIOS and the PC boots up from the M.2 without any problems so it would appear to work ok. However I have been rather disappointed in that it boots no faster than the C drive.

I recently downloaded and installed ADATA’s SSD Toolbox but strangely this software does not appear to ‘see’ the M.2 ADATA drive.   Everything else, i.e File Explorer, BIOS etc see’s it. I emailed ADATA and they sent me the following:-

“Make sure that RST mode is not AHCI mode in BIOS.”

I’m not too sure what this means, could anyone on here perhaps help please?

My BIOS is 1.12.1 dated 09/05/2019, access to the BIOS being via F2.

Thanks.

Ok so in the BIOS there are two types of Drive operations AHCI and ATA, AHCI Is meant for hard disks whilst ATA is meant for SSD’s, so if you enter the bios hit the button to change drive operation, it will be AHCI by default and all you need to do is switch it to ATA
