The DT power supply does not support Quads.
You are limited to
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E8600/3.33GHz, 6M, 1333FSB
Only the Tower Does.
The Optiplex 760 MT uses two motherboards -
T674K Non-Quad core CPU motherboard
U562N Quad core CPU motherboard
Intel® Core™ 2 Quad Q9650/3.00GHz, 12M, 1333FSB
You you cannot use a quad core CPU on it.

I think an Core 2 Duo Extreme will do the trick, but what is my motherboard in my Optiplex 760?

Optiplex 760 Tech Guide
Hi @EtanThePCKid,
The 760 doesn't take any "Extreme" CPU's that I know of. However, you might be able to upgrade to a Core 2 Quad. It's not mentioned the size of your 760 - MT, DT, SFF, or USFF? Speedstep already has a photo of the different models above in his post.

You can use a free system info program to find the motherboard model number, and lots of other info. One of the best is called HWINFO..
