Can I mix 6Gb/s and 12Gb/s SAS HDD?
Hi all,
I am using R350 server. As data increase rapidly and my server storage is almost full. Therefore, I am planning to buy more HDD. Unfortunately, 6Gb/s SAS HDD is end of line.
So,
1. Can i mix 6Gb/s and 12Gb/s SAS HDD in my R350 server?
2. If it is possible to do so, do i need to anything to rebuild my RAID?
For your information, I am using RAID-5. My RAID Controller is H730
Please help. Thank you.

You can make use of the Re-configure feature of the PERC H730 to expand the RAID 5. While in OMSA, go to -> Storage -> PERC H730 -> Virtual Disks and under the drop down menu of Available Tasks, select Re-configure and Execute. See diagrammatic illustration below:
On the next page, select the Physical Disk you would like to add and follow the prompts accordingly.

Hello.
Were you referring the R530 server? Yes, you can mix SAS HDD of different speeds. However, both will operate a lower common speed as negotiated by the controller. What issue are you having with the RAID -5 set up?
