Can't Find Latest Firmware for HGST Drive

I've just updated all my hdds' firmware to the latest in my RAID, except for one that I can't seem to find the updated firmware for. It's a HGST model: HUC101830CSS200 and Part #: 5VNKK with current FW of ADB0, and OMSA states the latest Available FW Version is FU29. Yet when I do a search, Dell only shows me these two options:

HGST FU40 for model number(s) HUC101830CSS200, HUC101812CSS200 and HUC101860CSS200

HGST FU45 for model number(s) HUC101830CSS200, HUC101812CSS200 and HUC101860CSS200

I've tried both, and neither work. Says they are not compatible with my system configuration. Obviously, this is correct as they shouldn't work, since the reported latest version, at least from OSMA, is it should only be FU29, NOT FU40 or FU45.

It would be so nice if OSMA would provide the links for each firmware it states is available directly from the report, since they obviously have access to these firmwares. I mean, how else would it know that there is a later/newer version?

So anyways, it seems like I'm on a wild goose chase trying to locate this firmware. Any suggestions, please!

Hi, have you looked at here? You should be able to find every firmware that is available.

Not sure how you found that, but thank you! I won't be able to try it until Wednesday, but it looks like it should work.

That firmware did not work either. Gives same error message, "This update package is not compatible with your system configuration." I tried both the Windows 32 and 64 bit driver.

Also I noticed under the section Fixes and Enhancements, it only stated "Initial release" which would suggest it was the original firmware version for this drive. If this is the case, then no wonder it didn't work, since this drive's FW is currently at ADB0, there is no way FU29 could be the initial release for this drive.

Any other suggestions?

Hi, are you using extra storage connected to the server? Because the firmware can differ depending on the product.

It was a replacement drive when one of the original failed. It is the second disk (0:1:1) of the three disk raid 5.

The serial number of the disk is 02G3D3AC.

OSMA reports there is a firmware update for it, though unfortunately it does not provide links or even where to download such updates.

Hello Modify_inc,

The part number # 5VNKK  comes up with firmware FU29-FU45 (latest) see attach image.

HGST FU45 for model number(s) HUC101830CSS200

Firmware: ADB0 is not coming up for that drive.

Is it a Dell branded drive purchased through Dell?

Can you attach an image of the full drive label?

Ok let us know when you can visually check it and send a picture of the label.

We have that model of drive with Dell firmware shown in the picture I posted.

Dell firmware cannot be applied to non-Dell drives.

I'll be away from the office until next Friday, so I can't physically look at it until then. I can remote in and check for anything else that may help in the short term.

I do not know where the owner purchased the disk from, though I would assume it was from Dell. If for some reason it was not, shouldn't I still be able to update its firmware? Especially since OSMA states there is a newer version as you can see in the snippets below
