Configuring RAID 1 and RAID 6
Hello,
I'd like to take out a doubt that I'm thinking about and would be greatly if you guys could help me.
I'm with the following scenario where I'll configure 2 RAIDs:
- RAID 1 using 2 disks to the OS
- RAID 6 using 10 disks to the database
What are the best practices to make this configuration?
Could I follow this tasks? Configure a VirtualDisk to RAID 1, other to RAID 6 and after, make the OS deployment.
The server is a Dell PowerEdge R740 with PERC H730P.

You can follow that procedure. If you want to create both volumes prior to the OS deployment, you'll want to avoid using the RAID utility in the Lifecycle controller. The utility there will deploy a single RAID volume and remove the others, whereas if you create the volume from the device menu and then navigate to the PERC, you can create both volumes, then complete the OS deployment. The other option would be to deploy 1 VD, install the OS to it, then create the second VD within the OS using OpenManage.
I forgot to mention that the iDRAC would also be capable of creating both arrays.
