DEGRADED PERC S300 RAID5

Controller: PERC S300 Virtual Disk Management (Build: 2.0.0-0166) Server: DELL T310 w/ 3 Dell Drives (465GB) RAID 5. Virtual Disks: 1- RAID5, 930GB, Degraded(R/W) Physical Disks: 0-00, Online 0-01, Ready 2-02, Online After a power outage the server lost it's RAID config. Cannot boot in Windows GUI whatsoever. 1) I am unable to initiate the REBUILD process since there are no such options. 2) Auto REBUILD is not happening on it's own even with Drive (0-01) in in the READY Mode. 2) Auto REBUILD is not happening on it's own even with Drive (0-01) in in the SPARE Mode. 3) All solution suggest I use OMSA to REBUILD

Hello

I think the S300 has a sync or scan option. That is about all you can do. If the system will no longer boot then there is an issue with the data on the disks. The virtual disk being degraded should not affect the data.

The S-series controllers are driver-based controllers. Rebuilds are controlled by the driver. You can check the manual to be sure, but I don't think a rebuild will start if the driver in the OS is not running. Also, a rebuild will not recover data, it will just take existing data and recreate the redundancy.

You should probably be looking into OS recovery options. If you boot to OS media you will need to manually load the S300 driver. You can find it on the system support page.
