You don't need to load a driver for the PERC 6/i in Server 2008 or newer, as the driver is "native" to Windows.  If you think you need a driver, I suspect it is because you have tried to install and it doesn't find any disks.  If so, keep in mind that the PERC does NOT support non-RAID/JBOD, so you need to configure disks in a Virtual Disk (VD, RAID array) before they can be presented to the OS.  It can be configured in the CTRL-R utility (be sure to check the Advanced/Initialize boxes too).

I'm not sure what the '1' is for, but there does not appear to be a newer version:

But, but, but...!

The release notes for the firmware update for the PERC 6/E adapter(SAS_RAID_Firmware_PERC6E_RELNOTES_6.3.3-0002_A00.txt) contains this installation challenge:

3.0 Important Information

9. It is recommended that the customer upgrade the management application
and device driver to the latest version available from Dell at the time of
   installation of this firmware.

So... I understand there is a newer version of the OpenManager ServerAdministrator application, but like the original question is this forum states, where do I get the most up-to-date version of the corresponding Windows driver? From Microsoft?!

Thanks for the fast reply.

We use WSUS and do not have drivers selected (best practice per Microsoft to prevent clogging WSUS with millions of inapplicable driver updates). WSUS group policy prevents arbitrary selection of non-approved updates.

Device Manager reports this driver currently installed:

  • Dell PERC 6/E Adapter RAID Controller
  • megasas.sys LSI 2/6/2009 4.5.0.64 (NT.090122-1504) 4.5.1.64

and

  • Dell PERC 6/i Adapter RAID Controller
  • megasas.sys LSI 2/6/2009 4.5.0.64 (NT.090122-1504) 4.5.1.64

Odd that Windows reports both 4.5.0.64 and 4.5.1.64 on the same file.

Anyway, since this driver is dated 02/6/2009 and the firmware from Dell is much newer, and there is a disclaimer by Dell in the release notes file for the firmware, it just makes me nervous that there is no way to get a confirmation of driver/firmware compatibility.

Yes. Run Windows Update first. If it doesn't have a newer driver, then you are up to date and you can proceed with the firmware update.

Thanks!

Good suggestion to check the Windows Catalog site. (Other OS may use same firmware but have different driver requirements.)
