Dell PowerEdge R730 and H730 Mini, reconfigure virtual disk?

Hi.

I have a couple of servers(Dell PowerEdge R730) using RAID 6(H730 Mini).
And I need to expand their virtual disk capacity by adding more HDD's.

But I do feel very unsure about how to do this, the manual doesn't explain this very well so I was hoping that someone can confirm following or provide some info regarding this.

As I understand I can accomplish this by using the "reconfigure virtual disk" in the UEFI menu.

Then by choosing RAID 6 I will be able to add new disks to the RAID without any data loss? (Not the best explanation I’ve done, I hope it makes sense)

Hello,

yes this is the right procedure, the action is called "reconfigure virtual disk".

You can find more info on the documentation of the RAID PERC controller.

If you have the service tag i can send you the right doc.

Thanks

Hi Marco,

I have an NX3240 (ST 5Z9P2S2) with an H730P Mini and I can't find the procedure to add disks to a virtual disk.

Where can I find the right documentation?

Thanks!!

You can check below links for reconfiguration of virtual disk

You can also use iDRAC to reconfigure virtual disk. Please refer below link for details (Refer Edit Disk Capacity and RAID Level Migration option)
